Audio-Visual R&D Specialist
The Audio-Visual R&D Specialist supports the development and implementation of research-driven solutions for real-time broadcast environments, working under the guidance of senior R&D engineers. The role focuses on developing next-generation tools, systems, and pipelines for real-time virtual production environments, enabling seamless interaction between physical studio infrastructure and digital and augmented content.
This position contributes to software development, system integration, and real-time rendering workflows, supporting the delivery of production-ready solutions for live studio and broadcast applications.
- Assist in the design, development, and validation of prototypes for A/V systems.
- Support research and implementation of new technologies in virtual production and broadcasting.
- Participate in testing and evaluation of emerging technologies such as AI-assisted content generation and virtual production tools.
- Assist in developing and maintaining tools within Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Support development of plugins and tools using C++, Blueprints, or similar technologies.
- Maintain and support real-time virtual production pipelines.
- Assist in implementing camera tracking solutions (e.g., Mo-Sys, NCAM).
- Support lens calibration and coordinate mapping activities.
- Assist in ensuring alignment between real and virtual environments.
- Support development and implementation of algorithms for signal processing and video optimisation.
- Assist in implementing computer vision solutions where applicable.
- Write and maintain code in C++, C#, or Python under guidance.
- Assist in integrating broadcast hardware with software systems.
- Work with professional standards such as SDI, NDI, and SMPTE ST 2110.
- Interface with control systems such as Crestron and AMX.
- Execute testing procedures for reliability and performance.
- Support optimisation of rendering pipelines and system performance.
- Assist in maintaining stable real-time performance in live environments.
- Support development of augmented reality overlays.
- Assist in integrating live data into visualisations.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams under guidance.
- Support translation of research outcomes into practical implementations.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports.
- Contribute to internal documentation and knowledge bases.
- Follow established technical standards and best practices.
- 5-10 years in R&D/engineering roles (required)
- Proven delivery of AV systems (required)
- Audio/video processing, streaming technologies (required)
- Familiarity with AI/ML in media (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (required)
