Senior Legal Counsel - Employment and Privacy
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on a wide range of employment and privacy matters.
This role involves providing practical, timely legal advice on employment issues, including employee terminations, complaints, and tailoring work schedules to meet business needs. The individual will advise on privacy-related matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities include drafting and reviewing employment/privacy documentation, conducting in-depth research on legal topics, identifying legal issues, analysing legal risks, and assisting in developing and implementing solutions. The role also requires supporting other departments and team members as necessary, liaising with external advisors and regulatory authorities, and assisting in building a scalable foundation for the Legal Team by developing templates, processes, and policies. Maintaining records of group policies and procedures and ensuring adherence internally and with relevant regulatory authorities is also part of the role.
- Provide practical, timely legal advice on employment issues, including employee terminations, complaints, and tailoring work schedules to meet business needs.
- Advise on privacy-related matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Draft and review employment/privacy documentation, such as contracts, policies and notices.
- Conduct in-depth research on legal topics relating to employment and privacy, referencing case law and regulatory updates.
- Identify legal issues, analyse legal risks, and assist in developing and implementing solutions.
- Support and advise other departments as necessary.
- Support team members as necessary.
- Liaise with external advisors and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and resolve legal issues.
- Assist in building a scalable foundation for the Legal Team by developing templates, processes, and policies.
- Maintain records of group policies and procedures and ensure adherence internally and with relevant regulatory authorities.
- 5 years experience as a practicing lawyer with particular focus and expertise in Employment and Privacy (required)
- Proven leadership skills (required)
- Strong knowledge in employment and privacy laws in Malta or Gibraltar (required)
- Multi-jurisdictional skills (nice-to-have)
- Strong analytical abilities and excellent written/verbal communication skills (required)
- High proficiency in English (verbal and written) (required)
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and prioritization skills (required)
