System Administrator
The System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of an organization’s IT systems and infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of systems and services while providing technical support to end-users and managing system-related issues.
The System Administrator will ensure lifecycle management of operating systems, server hardware, and software applications, including configuration, maintenance, updates, and upgrades, to maintain security, stability, and performance.
They will manage and maintain file servers, server infrastructure (including virtualization and hypervisor platforms), network devices, UPS units, and endpoint systems, including setup, configuration, and lifecycle support.
Management and maintenance of the wireless infrastructure, including access points, controllers, monitoring systems, security configurations, coverage planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management is also a key responsibility.
Ensuring systems are configured and operated in accordance with organizational policies, industry best practices, applicable standards, and regulatory/compliance requirements is crucial.
Development, management, and regular testing of backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity, availability, and operational continuity are essential.
Design, development, and maintenance of automation solutions and scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, infrastructure automation tools) to eliminate repetitive manual tasks and efficiently execute large-scale operations involving bulk updates, configuration changes, and mass deployment across multiple systems and devices will be undertaken.
Implementation and management of security controls (firewalls, antivirus, encryption) and conducting regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to mitigate risks are part of the role.
Monitoring system performance, availability, and reliability using monitoring tools, proactively identifying issues and improvement areas before user impact is expected.
Providing technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring timely resolution and service continuity is a core function.
Management of identity, authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms (user accounts, permissions, roles, group policies) across systems and platforms, in alignment with security and company policies will be performed.
Providing tiered technical support for system-level issues, including diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure-related incidents, escalations, and complex operational problems is required.
Maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation and preparation of regular reports on system configurations and performance, incidents, procedures and maintenance activities is necessary.
Working closely with other teams and departments to support projects and initiatives that require system administration expertise is expected.
Assistance in the planning and execution of system migrations, upgrades, and new deployments will be provided.
Maintaining optimal operational conditions in server rooms, including organization, cleanliness, rack management, cabling and airflow, while enforcing access control rules and intervention standards for all teams interacting with the IT infrastructure is a responsibility.
Ensuring continuous operational presence, professional availability during working hours, and sustained focus on critical activities, without behaviors that impact task execution, service delivery, or operational accountability is required.
Ensuring independent planning, organization, and execution of assigned activities, with full ownership of responsibilities and deliverables, without operational dependency on other roles for task coordination, tracking, or completion is a key aspect of the role.
