Data Platform Engineer
As a Data Platform Engineer, the successful candidate will contribute to building the modern data platform at PrizePicks to scale and productionise core data engineering, data analytics, and machine learning capabilities. The role involves integrating robust, low-latency machine learning models across the sports betting and daily fantasy ecosystems to impact key metrics such as Time-to-Bet, Deposit Velocity, and Platform Integrity.
The engineer will be responsible for designing and building the data platform for both batch and streaming use cases, while ensuring robust data security architectures and controls. The position also focuses on building platforms for deploying low-latency services to power real-time decisions, including dynamic oddsmaking and risk analysis, while championing best practices for model deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD.
- Design and build the data platform for batch and streaming use cases.
- Maintain the platform using cutting-edge technologies and enable data users by building data catalog and data lineage capabilities.
- Contribute to the design and enforcement of robust data security architectures and controls.
- Build platforms for deploying low-latency services to pipe data for streaming or near real-time use cases.
- Power real-time decisions across the platform, from dynamic oddsmaking and risk analysis to smart deposit defaults.
- Champion best practices for model deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD for data pipeline deployment.
- Enable complete observability for the batch and streaming data platform and ensure 99.99% availability.
- 3+ years of experience in Platform Engineering with a track record of maintaining scalable data platforms in high-traffic production environments (required)
- Proficiency in streaming architectures such as Kafka, Flink, or PubSub (required)
- Ability to build low-latency services to serve stream ingestion and processing for model inference in under 100ms (required)
- Proficiency with containerisation, Docker, Kubernetes, and cluster-level management (required)

- Experience as a key contributor to projects through the entire development lifecycle (required)
- Experience implementing infrastructure while enforcing best practices for large-scale data platform deployment (preferred)
- Background in Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS), oddsmaking, or high-frequency trading (preferred)
- Experience building and scaling data platforms that bridge batch historical data with real-time event streams (preferred)
- Experience enabling self-service for data teams for pipeline development and deployment (preferred)
- Experience enabling AI agents for repetitive tasks and AI coding for iterative software development (preferred)
