Fraud Analytics Intern - Spring 2027
The Fraud Analytics Intern role at PrizePicks involves working directly on real fraud questions using actual data alongside the company's analysts and Fraud Operations team. The position focuses on identifying and preventing fraud trends while ensuring a frictionless experience for legitimate customers.
This internship provides an opportunity to engage in investigative work, performance measurement of fraud controls, and the development of data dashboards. The intern will collaborate with Engineering and other stakeholders to maintain data integrity and provide actionable recommendations based on analytical findings.
- Investigate fraud patterns by analysing onboarding, promo, and payment activity to identify abuse and recommend risk-reduction strategies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of fraud controls using before and after comparisons, holdouts, and backtests.
- Build and maintain dashboards and a fraud and payment metric dictionary.
- Triage data anomalies with the Engineering team to ensure data accuracy.
- Answer ad-hoc questions from Fraud Operations and Product teams with clear recommendations.
- Proven SQL skills including joins, window functions, and aggregations (required).
- Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and basic statistics such as hypothesis testing (required).
- Experience with Python, R, or Tableau (nice-to-have).
- A project to demonstrate the ability to balance competing goals or priorities (required).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical teammates (required).
- Status as a rising junior, senior, Master's student, or recent graduate within one semester of graduation (required).
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (required).
