Data Architect

Description

Quantum is looking for a Data Architect to join the Data Engineering and AI team in London. This role involves setting the design principles for the company's data platform and ensuring all developments adhere to these standards.

The Data Architect will own the architecture of QiCore, the new data warehouse, manage the integration of acquired businesses into it, and lay the foundational infrastructure required for the company's AI ambitions.

Responsibilities
  • Own the target architecture for QiCore and act as design authority for every build that lands in it.
  • Establish clear approaches to customer identity, PII, consent, data classification, retention and access controls, working with relevant security, privacy and governance stakeholders.
  • Lead the migration of Rewards into the warehouse and single customer view, then turn it into a repeatable pattern for future acquisitions.
  • Define the modelling, governance and data quality standards engineers build to, and review work against them before it ships.
  • Stay hands-on by prototyping pipelines, unblocking engineers on daily design questions and leading a small team of data engineers.
  • Translate business needs into data design with Tech, Analytics and commercial teams to ensure the platform is ready for AI ambitions.
Requirements
  • Proven enterprise or data architecture experience, with a warehouse or lakehouse designed and running in production (required).
  • Hands-on data engineering experience, including writing SQL and Python and building or debugging pipelines (required).
  • Strong understanding of PII, data privacy, access control and governance, with experience designing solutions for both identifiable and anonymous/pseudonymous customer data (required).
  • Deep knowledge of big data platforms, ETL and ELT patterns, and data governance frameworks (required).
  • Experience consolidating acquired businesses or legacy platforms into a single data model (required).
  • High standards for quality and the ability to explain design trade-offs to engineers and non-technical stakeholders (required).
  • Ability to thrive when working as part of a team (required).
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment (required).
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills (required).
  • No ego (required).
Benefits
  • Private Health Care (Bupa)
  • Hybrid Working (3 days in office)
  • Travel Insurance
  • Competitive Base Salary
  • Company Bonus Scheme
  • Paid for AI Subscription (Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini)
