Test Automation Engineer
Relax Gaming is looking for a Test Automation Engineer to own quality across its real-money poker server stack. The role involves ensuring the integrity of complex systems, including payouts, tournament management, and regulatory compliance, by building an automated safety net that allows the team to ship changes with confidence.
The successful candidate will be embedded with server engineers rather than acting as a traditional gatekeeper. The focus is on creating robust test suites that enable continuous development and rapid, safe deployment of features to the live gaming platform.
- Design and own the automated test strategy across the server stack: unit, integration, end-to-end and regression.
- Grow and maintain CI/CD test coverage.
- Hunt down edge cases.
- Define quality gates and metrics.
- Partner with developers early.
- Triage, reproduce, and clearly document defects.
- Proven experience in QA automation for backend / distributed systems, ideally in a domain where correctness really matters (gaming, fintech, payments, trading, betting). (required)
- Strong Python for writing test harnesses and simulations; comfortable reading and navigating a Java codebase to understand and test it. (required)
- Hands-on experience testing message-driven / asynchronous systems: RabbitMQ/AMQP or similar (Kafka, SQS). (required)
- Confident writing SQL and validating state across relational and NoSQL stores (MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, Redis). (required)
- Practical experience with Docker / Docker Compose for spinning up multi-service test environments. (required)
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD (Jenkins or Bitbucket pipelines) and keeping pipelines green and fast. (required)
- A rigorous, detail-oriented mindset. (required)
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Copilot) day-to-day to accelerate test authoring, reproduction and triage, and honest about their limits. (required)
- Interested in applying AI to generate and prioritise test cases, and expand coverage of edge cases. (required)
- Domain knowledge of poker / real-money gaming rules, or a genuine eagerness to learn them deeply. (nice-to-have)
