Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting
Rush Street Interactive is seeking a Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting to lead the Corporate General Ledger and drive the monthly close process across the accounting organisation. The role involves serving as a key partner to the SEC reporting function to deliver consolidations, financial statements, and related disclosures.
The successful candidate will work closely with Accounts Payable, Treasury, FP&A, Accounting Operations, and International Finance to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time. This position is designed to evolve, requiring a leader with the presence and credibility to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability in a high-stakes environment. Candidates based in the Chicagoland area are sought, as this role requires occasional in-person collaboration at the Chicago office.
- Orchestrate the monthly close by driving the close calendar and holding the accounting organisation to it.
- Oversee Corporate GL accounting across cash, prepaid and other assets, long-lived assets, investments, accounts payable, and accrued and long-term liabilities, including review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Partner with the SEC reporting team on the consolidation, financial statements, and related disclosures for the 10-Q and 10-K.
- Ensure the global consolidation is accurate, complete, and delivered ahead of each reporting deadline, including intercompany and multi-currency considerations and alignment between operating results and consolidated financial statements.
- Serve primarily as a reviewer of work prepared by the team, preparing only certain non-routine or out-of-scope items.
- Set clear expectations, coach in real time, build leadership capability within the team, and foster a culture of ownership, urgency, and accountability.
- Maintain baseline knowledge across many accounting areas to jump in, support any team during close, and serve as a first line of authority on US GAAP questions.
- Understand SOX requirements and keep Corporate GL controls well designed and operating effectively, applying ongoing risk assessment and strengthening the control environment as the business scales.
- Serve as the voice of the corporate close with leaders across Finance, communicating status, risks, and decisions clearly, and anticipating dependencies across teams before they become blockers.
- Learn the ERP system and chart of accounts inside and out, and use that knowledge to review, troubleshoot, and guide the team.
- Identify and lead opportunities to automate and improve processes across the Corporate Accounting function, including the use of AI tools.
- Partner with Latin America Finance to ensure global alignment of accounting processes and policies, and collaborate with leaders across accounting, finance, and the broader organization.

- Public company experience, whether inside the controllership of a public company, at a public accounting firm serving public companies, or ideally both (required)
- Working knowledge of SOX and internal controls over financial reporting (required)
- Proficiency in US GAAP with the ability to independently evaluate and guide accounting conclusions, plus baseline knowledge across many accounting areas to jump in and support as needed (required)

- Experience leading in structured, high-stakes environments is a meaningful differentiator (preferred)
- Proven track record of managing and developing a team in an accounting or finance function, with a strong review orientation (required)
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to track multiple moving parts across teams and keep close processes on schedule (required)

- Clear, direct, and vocal communicator with the ability to set expectations, deliver feedback, and escalate appropriately (required)
- Experience with ERP systems and willingness to learn the system and chart of accounts in depth (required)
- NetSuite experience (nice-to-have)
