Junior Systems Administrator

Description

SkillOnNet is looking for a dedicated Junior Systems Administrator with a strong interest in maintaining, monitoring, and improving infrastructure systems and networks. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for configuring, managing, and supporting the company's firewalls, switches, virtual machines, and network infrastructure to ensure seamless operations.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, monitor, and enhance the company’s infrastructure systems and network.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain switches, virtual machines, computers and network infrastructure.
  • Manage and administer Microsoft 365, AD, cloud servers and mail provider platforms through their respective administration portals.
  • Maintain and support Windows and Linux servers.
  • Troubleshoot system, server, and network issues, including outages and connectivity problems.
  • Ensure system security through proper access controls, backups, and firewall configurations.
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal Infosec department, external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Manage users and permissions of internal and external systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including processes, policies, procedures, and user manuals.
  • Keep the Asset Management tool up to date.
  • Provide technical support to local and remote employees through the company’s ticketing system.
  • Assist in the implementation of IT projects and infrastructure improvements.
  • Apply hardware fixes and upgrades.
Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (required)
  • Excellent command in English language (required)
  • Hands-on experience in the administration of Windows and Linux servers (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role (required)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills (required)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (required)
  • Good organizational and communication skills (required)
  • High level of professionalism, trustworthiness, and integrity (required)
  • Experience with Active Directory, managed switches, firewalls, Load Balancers, VPNs, VMware, and Veeam (nice-to-have)
  • Experience with Fortinet / FortiClient firewalls (nice-to-have)
  • CCNA certification or relevant networking certifications (nice-to-have)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and virtualization technologies (nice-to-have)
