Chief Accountant
The Chief Accountant will oversee financial operations and ensure regulatory compliance. The role involves managing the accounting team, maintaining financial records, and providing strategic oversight of tax and treasury functions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding high standards of financial reporting and internal control. This position is based in Yerevan and requires a professional capable of navigating both local Armenian regulations and international accounting standards.
- Supervise the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare accurate financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) in compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Oversee the accurate calculation, filing, and payment of all corporate taxes (VAT, income tax, payroll taxes).
- Act as the primary point of contact for external tax auditors.
- Manage, mentor, and review the work of the accounting team (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accountants).
- Design and enforce internal accounting policies to prevent errors and fraud.
- Coordinate annual external audits, providing all necessary documentation.
- Monitor daily cash positions, approve high-value payments, and assist in cash flow forecasting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role (required).
- Proficiency in Armenian tax software (required).
- Experience in a multinational or large corporate finance environment (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience specifically in the HoReCa, food production, or agricultural industries (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge of the RA Tax Code and Labor Code, social security contributions (required).
- Knowledge of IFRS and Armenian local accounting regulations (required).
- Advanced understanding of local and international tax laws, including VAT, corporate income tax, and transfer pricing (required).
