Head of Payments
Softonstruct is on a search for a new player to join its team. The company is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Payments to lead and optimise the company’s global payment business across its iGaming platform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the payment strategy, managing relationships with both payment providers and iGaming operators, ensuring secure and compliant payments, and driving continuous improvements in payment performance and customer experience.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the payments industry, preferably within iGaming, and possesses deep knowledge of the online payments ecosystem and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and execute the company’s global payments strategy aligned with business objectives in close cooperation with company leadership and strategy team.
- Manage the end-to-end payment ecosystem, including deposits, withdrawals, payment routing, reconciliation, and settlement processes.
- Establish, negotiate, and maintain strategic partnerships with Payment Service Providers (PSPs), acquiring banks, payment gateways, payment aggregators, payment facilitators, and alternative payment method providers.
- Lead the process of new payment solutions identification and onboarding to improve customer payment success rates and geographic coverage.
- Monitor payment performance, authorisation rates, conversion rates, transaction costs, and payment acceptance across multiple markets.
- Optimise payment flows to maximise approval rates while minimising payment costs and fraud exposure.
- Lead initiatives to improve customer payment experience through innovation and automation.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Fraud Prevention, and Technology teams to ensure seamless payment operations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and standards.
- Monitor payment industry trends, emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and new payment methods relevant to the iGaming industry.
- Drive vendor performance management through KPIs, SLAs, and regular business reviews.
- Analyse payment data and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing payments team.
- Masters/Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field (required).
- Significant experience in the payments industry with increasing leadership responsibilities (required).
- Previous experience as Head of Payments, Payments Director, CEO of a payments business, or a similar senior leadership role (required).
- Strong understanding of online payment ecosystems and payment processing (required).
- Previous working experience working with: Payment Service Providers (PSPs), payment Gateways, payment Aggregators, payment Facilitators, and acquiring Banks (required).
- Experience managing payment integrations and payment operations across multiple jurisdictions (required).
- Strong commercial negotiation skills and experience managing strategic payment partners (required).
- Excellent analytical and decision-making capabilities (required).
- Proven leadership and people management experience (required).
- Previous experience within the iGaming, Online Gambling, Sports Betting, or Gaming industry (nice-to-have).
- Experience working with high-volume online transactions (required).
- Strong knowledge of payment optimisation, routing strategies, authorisation improvements, and transaction lifecycle management (required).
- Familiarity with fraud prevention tools and risk management within online payments (required).
- Knowledge of AML, KYC, PSD2, SCA, and other payment-related regulatory frameworks (nice-to-have).
- Excellent proficiency in English language, both written and spoken (required).
