Engineering Manager - AV Analytics and Customer Behavior
The Audiovisual unit at Sportradar develops video players, stream inspection tools, video processing and delivery platforms, streaming analytics backend systems, content management systems, and internal web interfaces. The team is responsible for the end-to-end stack of video streaming products, delivering high-quality live sports video and streaming solutions for millions of sessions daily.
Sportradar is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the AV Analytics squad. This role involves managing the entire lifecycle of feature development, support, and modernisation of streaming analytics and BI data. The successful candidate will work with large datasets, participating in all steps from receiving raw logs to delivering deep analytics, while leading a team of engineers and developing backend systems that extract insights from content consumption.
- Analyze and structure large datasets represented in the cloud data warehouse.
- Work with a modern stack including Java 25, Spring Boot 4, EKS, MySQL, and analytical databases such as Redshift and ClickHouse.
- Make use of and actively explore the use of AI in the software development lifecycle.
- Manage the entire chain by aggregating data from raw logs, representing data in the cloud data warehouse, aggregating data into reports, and delivering analytics data internally and externally.
- Be responsible for the architecture, observability, security, and performance of the software stack for streaming analytics.
- Lead the team of developers in the AV Analytics squad and work closely with the internal product team.
- Develop cloud-native applications with an innovative mindset together with the team of engineers.
- Work daily with tools like Cursor, Gitlab, and JIRA.
- Influence the design and technology of product components.
- Master's or bachelor's degree in software development (required)
- Excellent knowledge of the Java programming language and familiarity with frameworks like Spring and Kubernetes (required)
- Experience in working with AWS products and services, especially Redshift, S3, Aurora, EKS, and ElastiCache (required)
- Experience or interest in learning a ClickHouse analytical database (required)
- Interest in leading a team of engineers and being a line manager (required)
- An analytical mind and an interest in structuring large datasets and extracting data patterns (required)
- A personal motivation for software product development (required)
- Programming experience for high availability and high-performance software (required)
- Programming experience outside school, either through self-learning or work experience (required)
