Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d)
Sportradar is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Managed Trading Services (MTS) team. MTS is the platform behind Sportradar's risk betting management, processing millions of bets in real time for operators globally. The teams within MTS own high-throughput, low-latency services such as risk and liability, odds and offer, ticket validation, and the data plane that feeds them.
The role involves working with a modern cloud-native stack, including Java (Spring Boot / Quarkus), Kafka / MSK, gRPC & Protobuf, AWS (EKS, ECS, DynamoDB, Aurora), ArgoCD / GitOps, and Terraform, with observability on Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry. This is an opportunity to ship real features to production quickly, learn a rich domain, and grow towards owning larger pieces of the system.
- Design, build, test and ship backend services and APIs that are part of a larger, real-time system - and see them through to production.
- Deliver in small increments, breaking work into concrete, independently shippable pieces.
- Own changes in production, including helping with monitoring, alerting and occasional on-call duties.
- Write clean, well-tested, documented code, take part in code review, and help capture key decisions.
- Learn the MTS ecosystem and grow the independence to make more calls over time.
- Work with product managers and senior engineers to turn requirements into well-shaped, deliverable work.
- Use modern, AI-assisted development, actively encouraging spec-driven, agentic workflows.
- 2+ years of professional experience with Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate or similar modern frameworks) or another strong OO language (required).
- Good grasp of computer science fundamentals and clean, testable code (required).
- Solid understanding of automated testing - unit, integration, and API testing (JUnit, Mockito, or similar) (required).
- Comfortable with CI/CD and collaborative git workflows (required).
- Experience with AI-assisted, spec-driven development as part of your day-to-day workflow (required).
- Willingness to run what you build - going beyond writing code to owning your changes in production (deployment, monitoring, on-call) (required).
- Exposure to AWS, Kafka, Docker / Kubernetes, or relational and NoSQL databases (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with gRPC / protobuf, REST API design, or event-driven systems (nice-to-have).
- Interest in IaC (Terraform), GitOps, or observability tooling (nice-to-have).
- Interest in betting, trading, or other real-time / high-throughput domains (nice-to-have).
- A collaborative environment with colleagues from all over the world, including various social events and teambuilding.
- Ability to shape your own workday and career via a clearly defined professional and personal development plan.
- Opportunity to develop yourself within an inspiring and fast-growing company with Career framework possibilities.
- Vibrant and inclusive community, including Women in Tech and Pride groups.
- Global Employee Assistance Programme.
- Access to Calm and Reulay app (managing stress, maintaining focus, improving sleep, building resilience).
- Online training videos.
- Flexible working hours.
