Senior Staff Engineer
Sportradar is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to act as a technical catalyst within its iGaming division. This is a high-impact leadership role where the successful candidate will define the engineering culture and architectural vision for sports-based casino games.
The role involves partnering with leadership to translate product strategy into robust, scalable technical roadmaps. Sportradar expects the individual to empower developers to work smarter and faster through modern engineering methodologies, including AI-driven development.
- Lead the design and evolution of highly resilient, low-latency, and distributed architectures that power iGaming products.
- Champion the adoption of AI coding assistants within the development lifecycle.
- Define standards for AI-assisted code generation, automated documentation, test-case generation, and legacy code refactoring.
- Set the bar for best practices, including test-driven development, security-first design, and clean-code principles.
- Act as a bridge between front-end, back-end, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless product delivery and technical alignment.
- Participate in complex problem-solving and lead by example in difficult refactoring or high-stakes feature implementations.
- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers to cultivate a culture of continuous learning.
- 10+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record in the iGaming, betting, or high-concurrency real-time gaming sectors (required).
- Expert-level proficiency in Java/JVM ecosystems and modern front-end frameworks such as React and TypeScript (required).
- Deep experience in leveraging AI coding assistants to improve development workflows (required).
- Proven ability to architect complex, distributed systems in the cloud (required).
- Deep expertise in AWS including ECS, EKS, RDS, and S3 (required).
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple squads (required).
- Exceptional ability to translate complex technical constraints into business risks and opportunities for non-technical leadership (required).
- Expertise in low-latency game engine architecture for mobile or browser-based platforms (preferred).
- Experience building and scaling real-time video streaming solutions (preferred).
- Knowledge of global iGaming regulatory requirements and compliance standards (preferred).
- Strong understanding of DevOps as a culture (preferred).
