Software Engineer
The Automated Content Unit within Sportradar is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the Automated Video Production team. This role focuses on enhancing the sports experience for fans, athletes, and teams globally through world-class AI solutions, including computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning. The team is dedicated to automating sports content creation, both data and video, to power products and services delivered to partners.
As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the software solutions that power the Automated Video Production technology. This involves building and optimising the core software, including APIs, services, tools, and databases, that enable AI-driven systems to film and live-stream high-level sporting events from all over the world without human intervention. Leveraging your software engineering expertise, you will propose and implement software solutions based on requirements to help the team deliver quickly and efficiently.
- Design, build, test and maintain libraries, components and backend services for our Automated Video Production systems.
- Optimise video (and audio) encoding and distribution processes.
- Participate in analyzing business requirements and designing new functionalities.
- Break down complex and abstract requirements into smaller concrete components that will help the team deliver quickly and efficiently.
- Research new technologies and methodologies to address technical issues.
- Pro-actively contribute to the improvement of the software development process with hands-on familiarity with the latest technology strategy, tools and technologies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing software solutions.
- Design, build, test, deploy and maintain services hosted in a global distributed server architecture on premises and in the cloud, that are part of a larger system.
- Improve the reliability, security and efficiency of our stack.
- Write clean, scalable, documented, and understandable code.
- Participate in code review processes.
- Build reusable code libraries.
- Design, implement, and extend APIs.
- Proficiency in Python (required).
- Experience with other languages (required).
- Strong experience in managing larger projects from their conception to their maturity (required).
- Experience with frameworks for web APIs (e.g., Flask) (required).
- Experience with API specifications (OpenAPI, WebRTC) (required).
- Proficiency working on Linux systems (required).
- Excellence with version control systems (required).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for software release lifecycle (required).
- Good knowledge of containerization technologies and processes (required).
- Experience with databases (PostgreSQL knowledge is a plus) (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity of Cloud Service Providers (especially AWS) (required).
- Interest in hardware technologies and practical experimentation (required).
