VP, Security Operations

Description

Sportradar is seeking a hands-on leader for the role of VP, Security Operations. This position requires a technical expert capable of managing a global function and owning security operations end to end, including the Security Operations Centre (SOC), incident response, detection engineering, and threat intelligence.

The successful candidate will lead major incidents personally, set high standards for operational performance, and evolve the operating model, on-call structure, and automation tooling. This role involves driving the coverage roadmap across cloud estates and applications while ensuring that threat intelligence directly informs hunting, detection, and leadership briefings.

Responsibilities
  • Own incident response, including preparation, triage, containment, eradication, and post-incident reviews.
  • Lead major incidents personally and set the standard for operational excellence.
  • Build and evolve the SOC, including the operating model, on-call structure, tooling, and automation.
  • Treat detection engineering as an engineering discipline by ensuring detections are versioned, tested, tuned, and mapped to relevant threats.
  • Drive the coverage roadmap across the cloud estate and applications.
  • Build an operational threat intelligence capability that informs hunting, detection, and leadership briefings.
  • Act as the voice of operational reality at the leadership table.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product security, and InfoSec leadership to ensure systems are defensible.
  • Define and improve operational metrics such as detection coverage, investigation quality, time to detect and contain, and escalation effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Deep, current incident response experience, including personally leading the response to serious incidents (required).
  • Proven experience building or rebuilding a SOC, including operating models, hiring, tooling, and metrics (required).
  • Technical expertise with a solid grounding in cloud environments like AWS, GCP, and Azure (required).
  • Detection engineering experience, including rule development, coverage mapping, tuning, and automation (required).
  • Experience building or running an operational threat intelligence function (required).
  • Track record of leading globally distributed technical teams across time zones (required).
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM and Data Lakes (required).
  • Experience with DDoS mitigation (required).
  • Experience with threat hunting and purple teaming (required).
