Data Engineer
Join our Data Platforms team as a Data Engineer and help power the data ecosystem that drives innovation across Sportsbet. This role sits within our Data, AI & Enabling Technology function, where you’ll design, build and optimise scalable data solutions that give us a competitive edge.
You’ll work across modern cloud platforms, collaborating with teams to deliver high-performing, reliable data products while continuously improving the way we operate. This is a hands-on role where you’ll shape architecture, contribute to solution design, and bring new ideas to life in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms using modern cloud technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse requirements and deliver high-quality, data-driven solutions.
- Optimise performance, reliability and cost-efficiency of data platforms and services.
- Own and support production systems, proactively resolving issues and improving operational processes.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation and adoption of best practices.
- Strong experience with AWS data services (e.g. MSK, AWS Glue, Lambda Functions, CloudWatch, Athena, Fargate, S3, EMR, etc) (required).
- Advanced SQL skills across relational and NoSQL systems (required).
- Proven experience with Python, Spark or PySpark (required).
- Experience working with Databricks and modern Lakehouse frameworks (required).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment practices and tools such as GitHub (required).
- Exposure to Data Vault, Delta Lake, streaming or serverless architectures (nice-to-have).
- Experience working in agile environments with modern development practices (nice-to-have).
- Experience with serverless based technologies (nice-to-have).
- Experience with data streaming-based architecture (nice-to-have).
