Senior Software Engineer - Java
Sportsbet AU is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Java, to join its Betting Product Technology team in Melbourne. The role involves designing and building reliable, scalable backend systems while helping to uplift engineering standards across the team.
This is a hands-on senior position where the successful candidate will take technical ownership, solve complex problems, and support the growth of junior team members.
- Design, build and evolve scalable backend services and platforms.
- Deliver high-quality software focused on maintainability, reliability and performance.
- Lead technical design and solutioning for complex business problems.
- Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, helping strengthen technical capability and engineering practices across the team.
- Proven experience in a senior engineering role, including mentoring and guiding junior team members (required).
- Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architecture (required).
- Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka (required).
- Working knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, ECS, VPC, CloudFormation, CloudWatch and RDS (required).
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, secure coding and engineering tools such as Docker, Jenkins and Ansible (required).
