Senior Software Engineer
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Technology team, the successful candidate will take end-to-end ownership of key services and systems, delivering complex solutions that bring excitement to life for customers. Based in Melbourne, the role involves providing technical direction, leading solution design, and helping to shape reliable, secure, and scalable MarTech platforms.
The position requires a pragmatic and collaborative technical leader who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and turning complexity into clear, valuable outcomes. The engineer will also be responsible for mentoring other team members and contributing to the improvement of engineering standards and practices across the broader community.
- Deliver medium to high-complexity features from discovery through to production, identifying dependencies and addressing risks early.
- Own the technical health of key services, including stability, security, operational support and continuous improvement.
- Lead the design of larger changes, aligning solutions with agreed architecture and creating clarity through effective technical reviews.
- Build clean, maintainable and well-tested software while helping improve engineering standards and team practices.
- Coach and mentor engineers, contribute to code reviews and working groups, and share knowledge across the broader Technology community.
- Experience in a relevant technical domain, supported by a qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent experience (required).
- Backend development experience with technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Node.js or TypeScript, including APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, application security and scalable design (required).
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS, containers, infrastructure as code, databases, messaging, observability and CI/CD practices (required).
- Confidence using AI coding assistants and agentic development tools, with the judgement to assess AI-generated code for correctness, security and maintainability (required).
- Proven experience in messaging and streaming systems such as Kafka (required).
- Frontend engineering capability using TypeScript, React or React Native (nice-to-have).
