Backend Engineer
SuperBet is seeking a Backend Engineer to contribute to the development of The Playstack, a technology platform powering the next generation of sports, gaming, and fan experiences. The role involves working within a Tribes and Squads model to deliver scalable, secure, and engaging user experiences across various product areas such as registration, deposits, withdrawals, and player engagement.
Engineers will have the opportunity to bring solutions to life through clean and maintainable code while collaborating with a diverse team of product managers, designers, and fellow engineers. The position focuses on building and enhancing platform components to support SuperBet's growth across Europe and Latin America.
- Collaborate closely with geographically distributed engineering teams to design and implement scalable and robust software solutions.
- Enhance the existing platform to increase the amount of business functionality driven by end-user configuration.
- Enhance system automation across scale, resiliency, and deployment.
- Maintain, enhance, and create common platform components and libraries (AWS, Go, Python, Erlang, Kafka).
- Build on the cloud-native platform, enabling greater use of AWS technology to accelerate delivery, scale, and resiliency.
- Build on observability tooling and infrastructure to better understand the capabilities of the systems.
- Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organisation to understand and drive requirements and improvements across the platform.
- Lead initiatives and tasks, driving them to completion and championing continuous improvement to enhance team productivity and efficiency.
- Grow the engineering community by building on existing processes and practices.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a large-scale production environment (required).
- Experience engineering high-quality, highly scalable software in an object-oriented or functional language (required).
- Willingness to learn new technologies (Golang, Python, Erlang, and Elixir) (required).
- A talent for clean coding, simple solutions, automated testing, and continuous deployment (required).
- Experience working with distributed systems (required).
- Experience building and improving upon observability (required).
- A passion for working in the cloud and automation (required).
- A passion for creating user-centric, data-driven solutions (required).
- Experience with AWS (CloudFormation, MSK, S3, Cognito, etc.) (nice-to-have).
- An interest in functional programming (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge of Kafka (nice-to-have).
- Front-end development experience in React or Vue.js (nice-to-have).
