Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

To support this growth, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can play a key role in delivering high-quality integrations, shaping engineering standards, and helping us accelerate the onboarding of new providers. As we continue to scale rapidly, this role will be instrumental in ensuring that our systems remain reliable, efficient, and capable of supporting our evolving platform.

- Collaborating closely with geographically distributed engineering teams to design and implement scalable and robust software solutions.
- Enhancing the existing platform to increase the amount of business functionality driven by end-user configuration.
- Enhancing system automation across scale, resiliency, and deployment.
- Maintaining, enhancing, and creating common platform components and libraries (AWS, Erlang, Go, Kafka).
- Working with technical and non-technical stakeholders from the wider organisation to understand and drive requirements and improvements across the platform.
- Building on our cloud-native platform, enabling more use of AWS technology to aid in speeding up delivery, scale, and resiliency.
- Building on our observability tooling and infrastructure to better understand the capabilities of our systems.
- Leading initiatives and tasks and driving them to completion.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team productivity and efficiency.
- Growing the engineering community, building on the existing process and practices.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a large-scale production environment (required).
- Experience engineering high-quality, highly scalable software in any object-oriented or functional language (required).
- Experience working with distributed systems (required).
- Experience building and improving upon observability (required).
- A talent for clean coding, simple solutions, automated testing, and continuous deployment (required).
- A passion for working in the cloud and automation (required).
- A passion for creating user-centric, data-driven solutions (required).
- A willingness to learn new technologies (required).
- Experience with AWS (CloudFormation, MSK, S3, Cognito etc.) (preferred).
- Knowledge of Kafka (preferred).
- An interest in functional programming (preferred).
- Front-end development experience in React (preferred).
