Staff Software Engineer
SuperBet is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to operate far beyond the scope of a single team or service. Working directly with senior engineering leadership, the successful candidate will tackle large, cross-area technical challenges that impact dozens - sometimes hundreds - of services across the platform.
This is a high-impact role for an individual who thrives on complex systems, ambiguous problems, and consequential architectural decisions that shape how the platform scales and evolves.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership and teams to design and implement scalable, robust software solutions.
- Analyse complex system challenges and develop clear strategies for improving architecture, scalability, and platform efficiency.
- Drive large cross-team initiatives from concept to execution, influencing decisions and aligning multiple teams.
- Enhance system automation across scale, resiliency, and deployment.
- Build and improve core platform components and shared libraries (AWS, Go, Erlang, Kafka) used across the organisation.
- Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand and drive improvements across the platform.
- Build on the cloud-native platform, enabling greater use of AWS technology to accelerate delivery, scale, and resiliency.
- Grow the engineering community, elevating standards and helping teams operate more efficiently.
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in a large-scale production environment (required)
- Experience designing and implementing solutions at an organisational level, impacting multiple teams or tribes (required)
- Proven track record engineering high-quality, highly scalable software (required)
- Strong system design fundamentals, particularly in distributed systems (required)
- Ability to analyse complex technical problems and develop clear strategies (required)
- Comfort working in ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces (required)
- A willingness to learn new technologies (we are working with Golang, Erlang) (required)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across teams (required)
- A passion for creating user-centric, data-driven solutions (required)
