Description

Here at evoke plc, the Operational Assurance team sits in the 2nd line of defence within the Regulatory Compliance and Risk Assurance department. The department takes a data-led and risk-based approach to deliver innovative, independent, and objective assurance and monitoring that safeguards customers and the integrity of evoke, ensuring robust regulatory compliance and effective risk management.

Based in Leeds or London, in this role, the manager will lead and develop a team of Assurance Analysts in delivering high-quality process and outcome testing across the business, providing independent assurance over the effectiveness of controls, adherence to policies, and delivery of fair customer outcomes. The manager will also be responsible for planning and overseeing assurance activities, ensuring testing is risk-based, robust, and aligned to departmental objectives. They will challenge findings, support the production of clear and actionable reports, and work closely with stakeholders to promote understanding of risks, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of Assurance Analysts, fostering a high-performance culture focused on quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Actively engage with business forums and governance meetings to communicate assurance outcomes, discuss emerging risks, and support effective risk management.
  • Drive consistency in testing methodologies and strengthen assurance practices through collaborative working.
  • Plan and oversee assurance activities, ensuring testing is risk-based, robust, and aligned to departmental objectives.
  • Develop and manage assurance plans, prioritising activities, allocating resources and delivering against agreed timelines.
  • Engage, challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Interpret data, identify trends, determine root causes and recommend practical solutions to improve controls and customer outcomes.
  • Improve assurance methodologies, testing frameworks, reporting standards, and team capabilities.
Requirements
  • Excellent understanding of assurance methodologies, process reviews, control effectiveness testing and outcome-based assessments (required).
  • Previous experience leading, motivating and developing a team (required).
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills with experience translating complex findings into clear, concise and actionable insights (required).
  • Previous experience presenting assurance outcomes at governance forums, facilitating discussions and driving agreement on actions and improvements (required).
