Business Systems Application Engineer
The Business Systems Application Engineer will support and evolve a vast enterprise application ecosystem. Business Systems Solutions delivers bespoke and third-party solutions that drive operational efficiency, scalability, and technical resilience across the enterprise. The team leverages cutting-edge platforms to integrate, automate, and optimise key business workflows.
This role involves supporting a diverse portfolio of applications and guiding users through critical technical challenges. Working across hybrid environments, the engineer will perform in-depth root cause analysis, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate directly with internal teams and external vendors to deliver seamless platform performance. The role includes an on-call capability as part of a rota to support key applications out of hours.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for internal teams on system-related issues, maintenance, and deployments.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for key toolsets, advising on new features and architectural improvements.
- Maintain and support a wide range of on-premise, SaaS, and cloud-hosted business applications.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical incidents to maintain high service availability.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to communicate case progress and deliver prompt technical resolutions.
- Manage third-party vendors against SLAs to ensure reliable service delivery and support.
- Oversee the testing and deployment of software patches and application upgrades to ensure security and compliance.
- Monitor system performance and reporting tools to maintain platform uptime across hybrid infrastructure.
- Collaborate with business teams and external partners to evaluate, design, and integrate new technical solutions.
- Utilise AI to provide solutions and suggest improvements.
- Proven track record supporting SaaS, cloud-based architectures, and enterprise systems (required).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability across complex application environments (required).
- Practical knowledge of application lifecycle management, including upgrades, patches, and system integration (required).
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills across diverse technical and operational disciplines (required).
- Sound technical judgement when resolving critical incidents and assessing system risks (required).
- Solid understanding of vendor management principles and third-party service level agreements (required).
