Senior Python Developer (Sources Team)
Betby is building a complex, high-load system based on a microservice architecture, where reliability and performance are critical. This is not a legacy support project - it is about continuous development of new modules, handling real-time data streams, and optimising high-throughput architecture.
The Sources team is responsible for integrating and processing high-volume sports data from multiple external providers - turning raw real-time feeds into reliable event streams that power the entire platform. Teams are small, autonomous, and focused (4-6 engineers). They operate with high ownership, build with purpose, and look for senior engineers who actively identify system or process bottlenecks, take ownership, and continuously drive technical improvements.
- Design, build, and maintain high-load backend Python microservices for real-time data ingestion and processing.
- Work with Kafka and RabbitMQ: consume, route, and reliably deliver event streams across the platform.
- Design, support, and optimise microservice architecture components (REST API, GraphQL, internal RPCs).
- Contribute to architectural discussions, tech debt refactoring, and technical decision-making.
- Proactively identify performance bottlenecks, reliability gaps, and process inefficiencies.
- Write clean, functional, and integration tests to ensure system stability.
- Mentor team members through regular code reviews, knowledge sharing, and setting engineering standards.
- Collaborate closely with developers, QA, analysts, product managers, and cross-functional Scala teams.
- 5+ years of professional Python engineering experience (required)
- 3+ years of deep, hands-on experience with asyncio and asynchronous programming (mastery of event loop mechanisms, deadlock prevention, handling blocking operations, and high-concurrency patterns) (required)
- Practical experience using multithreading alongside coroutines when appropriate for data-intensive processing (required)
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-load microservices operating under high production pressure (required)
- Hands-on experience with Kafka (required)
- Strong experience with RabbitMQ (required)
- Web frameworks experience (FastAPI, Sanic) and Pydantic (v2) (required)
- Confident knowledge of MongoDB (required)
- Solid understanding of architectural patterns and principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI, RPC design) (required)
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in microservices ecosystem (required)
- Experience designing internal libraries, SDKs, or shared platform components (required)
- Comfortable in Unix/Linux environments (debugging, tracing, performance optimisation) (required)
- Domain experience in iGaming, betting, trading, or FinTech (nice-to-have)
- Experience integrating third-party data providers (nice-to-have)
- Experience with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK (nice-to-have)
