Data Engineer
Betsson Group is looking for Data Engineers in Malta to join its international teams. This role contributes to the design and development of the platform to fulfil business needs and improve existing systems.
Within this capacity, the successful candidate will have the chance to design new data pipelines and maintain platforms hosted on data streams for batch-loading and real-time visualisations.
- Maintaining and evolving the existing data platform.
- Following and mentoring engineers on data modelling following standards e.g. Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault.
- Ensuring data quality by verifying data consistency and accuracy.
- Keeping up to date on research and development of new technologies and techniques.
- Being able to troubleshoot and solve problems and incidents.
- Taking full ownership on projects and tasks assigned together with being able to work within a team.
- Documenting well processes and performing knowledge sharing sessions.
- Knowledge on AWS Services like S3/Lambda/Glue/DMS/RDS (required).
- Experience with Snowflake or Redshift as a modern cloud database technology (required).
- Experience with cost-efficient SQL designs and query optimization (required).
- Experience with orchestrating data pipelines using tools like Airflow (required).
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming and abstraction principles (required).
- Experience with Data Warehousing concepts and data modelling techniques such as Inmon, Kimball, or Data Vault (required).
- Proficient in data streaming technologies such as Kafka (nice-to-have).
- Experienced with software versioning tools like GIT (nice-to-have).
- Skilled in infrastructure scripting using Terraform (nice-to-have).
- Hands-on expertise in data monitoring and visualization tools (nice-to-have).
- Experienced in scripting with PowerShell and Unix (nice-to-have).
