Senior Data Platform Engineer

Description

This role is central to building the core of our data platform. The successful candidate will design, develop, and operate the foundational features and frameworks that enable our data teams to build and deploy data products with speed and confidence.

Instead of focusing on individual data pipelines, the mission will be to create scalable, self-service capabilities that accelerate the entire data development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build scalable, reusable frameworks and services for data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
  • Develop and maintain the platform's core capabilities, such as orchestration, data quality validation, and schema management tools.
  • Engineer self-service features that empower data engineers and analysts to manage their own data assets efficiently.
  • Focus on improving the Data Developer Experience (DataDevEx) for anyone interacting with the data platform.
  • Implement and enforce data modeling standards and best practices through automated tools and platform features.
  • Evolve the platform's architecture to incorporate new technologies that improve scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Data DevOps Engineers to ensure platform features are automated, observable, and deployed via CI/CD.
  • Act as a key contributor to the platform's roadmap, identifying and prioritizing features that unlock the most value for its users.
Requirements
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, with experience in a language like Python or Java (required).
  • Experience building reusable frameworks, libraries, or internal tools (required).
  • Experience with modern cloud database technologies such as Snowflake and Redshift (required).
  • Deep knowledge of SQL and data integration patterns (required).
  • Knowledge of AWS Services like S3, Glue, Lambda, DMS, and RDS (required).
  • Familiarity with Data concepts and data modeling techniques (Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault) (required).
  • Excellent verbal and writing English communication skills (required).
  • Experience with orchestrating data pipelines using tools like Airflow (nice-to-have).
  • Experience building or managing APIs and microservices (nice-to-have).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure scripting like Terraform and CI/CD practices (nice-to-have).
  • Familiarity with data streaming technologies such as Kafka (nice-to-have).
  • Familiarity with software versioning tools like GIT (nice-to-have).
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent (required).
  • At least 3 years experience in Data Engineering or at least 1 years experience in Data Platform Engineering (required).
