Staff Engineer
Betway is looking for a Staff Engineer to develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, and investigating problem areas. The role involves following the software development lifecycle to create high-quality software design and architecture while ensuring deliverables comply with quality standards and are completed on time.
Betway expects the Staff Engineer to design, develop, modify, and support software components across the entire stack. The role is responsible for driving software change and release management processes, monitoring systems, and driving continuous improvement. The Staff Engineer will also produce clean, efficient code, automate tasks, and manage CI/CD pipelines. Analysis involves conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures, as well as determining root causes for complex software issues and developing permanent technical solutions. The Staff Engineer will document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
This role is expected to keep up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry and run knowledge shares within their own department and the greater organisation. They will remain current on new technologies and available vendor packages, and evaluate and make recommendations as necessary. The Staff Engineer engages directly with IT management, development teams, technical delivery teams, and vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of technology-based solutions. They provide information by collecting, analysing, and summarising development and service issues, and compile progress reports and timelines, documents, development phases, and monitor systems.
The Staff Engineer is accountable for supporting and developing junior software engineers by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities. They will assist in task planning and estimation for their team. This position requires trust and honesty as it has access to customers financial details, therefore a credit and criminal record check will be conducted.
