Frontend Team Lead
BGaming is looking for a Frontend Team Lead to join the Casual team. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines game development with the management of the frontend team.
The Frontend Team Lead serves as the primary technical point of contact for cross-functional requests, translating product needs into technical solutions. The role involves defining implementation approaches, coordinating team execution, and contributing to the development of key game features.
BGaming expects the lead to support the growth of the team, uphold high engineering standards, and ensure predictable, high-quality delivery of projects.
- Act as the main point of contact for the frontend team, collaborating with Game Design, Art, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and predictable delivery.
- Own team execution by defining priorities, breaking down work, managing dependencies, keeping Jira up to date, and proactively surfacing risks.
- Lead and support the team through code reviews, technical guidance, coaching, and regular feedback while fostering open and constructive communication.
- Write high-quality JavaScript/TypeScript code, contribute to the game engine, and implement complex game features and visual systems when needed.
- Drive technical decisions for animations, VFX, interactive elements, and gameplay systems, working closely with designers to deliver polished player experiences.
- Own features end-to-end, from requirements clarification and implementation to iteration, release, and post-launch support.
- Ensure high engineering standards by maintaining code quality, runtime performance, stability, and scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to shared tooling, engine improvements, and reusable solutions that help the team deliver games faster and more efficiently.
- 5+ years of professional development experience, including JavaScript/TypeScript (required).
- At least 1 year of experience as a Team Lead or in a similar engineering leadership role (required).
- Commercial experience in game development using Pixi.js, Phaser, or similar JavaScript game frameworks (required).
- Solid understanding of OOP and design patterns, and how to apply them to animation/gameplay systems (required).
- Strong performance optimization skills, including browser profiling, GPU/rendering constraints, and balancing visual quality with runtime performance (required).
- Comfortable with Git and Jira in a collaborative workflow (required).
- Language proficiency: Russian - Advanced, English - Pre-Intermediate or higher (required).
- Experience with WebGL and broader game development technologies (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with Unity, Unreal Engine, or Flash (nice-to-have).
- Experience building development processes (team rituals, delivery practices, quality gates) (nice-to-have).
- Experience managing developers (mentorship, feedback, onboarding) (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge of other OOP languages (nice-to-have).
- Experience with Spine (even if used occasionally) (nice-to-have).
