Senior Front-End Software Engineer
The Senior Client Engineer works on the frontlines of a game development team to create compelling game experiences for LnW products. The role involves implementing, debugging, modifying, and supporting in-game features, development, and operational tools in a timely manner while actively participating in the design of the games.
Light & Wonder requires a professional with the technical skills to operate independently, as well as the communication and collaboration skills to be an integral and valued team player. At the senior level, the engineer is expected to possess solid skills, experience, and a strong work ethic to succeed, while maintaining a desire to learn from teammates. Additionally, the engineer is expected to help and mentor junior members of the team to help them come up to speed.
- Implement and maintain client-side code for desktop and mobile games in a thorough and timely manner.
- Work on client/server-based applications using a variety of technologies including JavaScript, HTML, CSS etc.
- Identify new tools/improved processes to aid the Development team in delivering new Gaming products.
- Contribute to the development of new/innovative games and different features in a game.
- Help other team members to resolve their issues.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience (required)
- 5-8 years of software development experience (required)
- Strong understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds (required)
- Experience in Data structures (JavaScript or any programming language) (required)
- Basic understanding of web mark-up, including HTML5 and CSS3 (required)
- Experience with development tools including IDEs, debuggers, bug tracking (required)
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, CVS, SVN (required)
- Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming techniques and languages (required)
- Knowledge of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as ReactJS, AngularJS, jQuery, NodeJS etc. (preferred)
- Hands on experience on other programming languages such as Java, C++, Python etc (preferred)
- Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt (preferred)
- Distributed application (client/server) development experience (preferred)
- Game Development experience (preferred)
- Experience in UI development and animations (preferred)
