FP&A Manager

Description

Genius Sports is hiring an FP&A Manager to join its Commercial Finance team and become a key Finance Business Partner to its iGaming business. This is an individual contributor role with significant ownership and influence. Working closely with the Principal FP&A Lead and partnering directly with the Head of iGaming and his leadership team, the successful candidate will help shape commercial decisions across a complex portfolio of products, markets, and investments.

The role requires going beyond reporting performance by getting underneath the numbers, understanding what is driving them, and using that insight to challenge thinking, identify opportunities, and recommend where to act, invest, or change direction. The manager will bring together financial and operational data to develop a clear point of view on business performance, assessing investment opportunities, understanding movements in EBITDA, challenging forecasts, and evaluating performance across products and markets. The analysis will be turned into recommendations that help the business make better decisions.

Strong FP&A fundamentals are essential, including comfort in owning financial models, forecasts, budgets, and scenario analysis, and getting into the detail when required. The difference at this level is what is done with that information: connecting the dots, influencing senior stakeholders, and helping turn insight into action. This role could suit an experienced FP&A or Commercial Finance professional who has already built strong technical foundations and is now looking for a role where they can have greater commercial ownership and influence.

Responsibilities
  • Be a trusted Finance Business Partner to iGaming leadership, building a deep understanding of the business and using financial insight to challenge, influence, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Turn performance into action by analysing the P&L as well as operational and commercial KPIs to identify the underlying drivers of performance and recommend what the business should do next.
  • Shape investment and commercial decisions by building financial models, business cases, and scenario analysis to assess opportunities, trade-offs, risks, and returns and help determine where to invest resources.
  • Own and continuously improve forecasting and planning, bringing together financial, operational, and commercial assumptions to create robust forecasts while constructively challenging the assumptions behind them.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and risks, using data and understanding of the business to surface issues early, investigate their root causes, and drive conversations around potential actions.
  • Influence through insight by presenting clear recommendations to senior finance and non-finance stakeholders and being comfortable constructively challenging established thinking when the data points to a different conclusion.
  • Drive better decision-making across the Gaming business by partnering with Product, Commercial, Marketing, and Data teams to connect financial performance with the operational decisions behind it.
  • Raise the standard of FP&A by identifying opportunities to improve models, reporting, processes, and use of data so Finance can spend less time producing information and more time influencing decisions.
Requirements
  • A fully qualified accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) (required)
  • Strong FP&A or Commercial Finance experience (required)
  • Demonstrable experience operating as a Finance Business Partner, working with senior non-finance stakeholders and influencing commercial decisions (required)
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to move beyond explaining the numbers to developing a clear point of view and recommending a course of action (required)
  • Examples of where analysis has directly influenced a decision, investment, change in direction, or improvement in business performance (required)
  • Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario-planning capability, with advanced Excel skills and the confidence to build and interrogate models independently (required)
  • Strong understanding of P&L and EBITDA performance and the ability to connect financial outcomes with operational and commercial drivers (required)
  • The confidence to constructively challenge senior stakeholders, test assumptions, and ask difficult questions while building strong, trusted relationships (required)
  • A proactive and curious approach, not waiting to be asked for analysis when an opportunity, risk, or question worth investigating can be seen (required)
  • The ability to take complex financial and operational information and communicate the key message and recommendation clearly and concisely (required)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, commercially complex environment (required)
  • Experience within iGaming, gaming, digital media, technology, or another data-rich consumer business would be advantageous (nice-to-have)
