Flutter Tech Lead
GR8 Tech is seeking a Flutter Tech Lead to own and drive the frontend mobile architecture across its flagship products. This role is crucial for scaling real-time user experiences to millions of active users by delivering high-throughput, low-latency Flutter applications, while simultaneously elevating engineering standards across the development teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining high-level mobile system architecture, establishing patterns that ensure mobile applications are stable, modular, and fast. They will translate business goals into robust technical blueprints, making clear decisions on system trade-offs and establishing engineering benchmarks for critical performance metrics such as app startup times, memory footprint, and frame rates.
This position involves evaluating new mobile technologies, frameworks, and tools to address complex scaling challenges before they impact production. It also includes designing and executing migration strategies, such as native add-to-app integrations, to seamlessly modernise legacy codebases. Furthermore, the role requires defining and enforcing security baselines, including certificate pinning, obfuscation, and anti-tampering logic.
The Flutter Tech Lead will contribute hands-on code to critical, high-complexity systems and core framework libraries. They will lead incident response and root-cause analysis for high-severity mobile production issues and optimise app performance by diagnosing UI/raster jank, memory leaks, and CPU-heavy operations using Dart Isolates.
Collaboration is key, with the role requiring partnership with Product Managers, Heads of Streams, and Team Leads to align technical roadmaps with product release schedules. Standardisation of CI/CD pipelines, release automation (fastlane), and store submission processes across all mobile teams is also a responsibility. Aligning architectural patterns across cross-functional streams to prevent technical fragmentation is essential.
In terms of people and technical leadership, the Flutter Tech Lead will mentor senior and mid-level engineers, conducting code reviews to enhance overall quality. They will support Team Leads in crafting technical Personal Development Plans (PDPs) for mobile engineers and drive engineering culture through technical write-ups, architecture reviews, and internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
