Scala Team Lead
The Tech Lead is a senior engineering role responsible for driving technical excellence within a specific product or platform stream at GR8 Tech. This role combines hands-on development with architectural leadership, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
The Tech Lead partners closely with the Head of stream, Product Managers, and Team Leads to deliver business value while maintaining strong technical standards.
- Own high-level system design and architecture decisions for features, services, and platform components.
- Perform technical evaluation of tasks, initiatives, and projects, including feasibility and trade-offs.
- Collaborate with Team Leads and other Tech Leads on technical roadmap alignment.
- Support incident resolution and root cause analysis for complex production issues.
- Contribute as an Individual Contributor to critical or complex parts of the system.
- Drive technical excellence within the assigned stream, ensuring alignment with company-wide engineering standards.
- Ensure code quality, reusability, scalability, and extensibility across owned services and components.
- Review and guide implementation approaches to ensure best engineering practices.
- Ensure adherence to Definition of Done and engineering standards.
- Provide high-level effort estimations and support planning activities.
- Act as a technical authority in at least one programming language or technology stack.
- Balance technical quality versus delivery speed.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to their professional development and technical growth.
- Assist Team Leads in defining and executing Personal Development Plans.
- Promote knowledge sharing, documentation, and engineering culture improvements.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including prior experience in a senior or lead engineering role (required)
- Proven experience in Scala and Java (required)
- Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems in product-based or B2B environments (required)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (required)
- Strong system design, architectural thinking, and deep understanding of software engineering best practices (required)
- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and effective technical communication across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders (required)
- Ownership, accountability, and ability to work in cross-functional environments (required)
- Upper-Intermediate (B2+) level of English and Ukrainian or Russian (required)
- iGaming domain experience (nice-to-have)
