Director, Global Communications
The Director, Global Communications is a highly collaborative, forward-thinking leader responsible for Light & Wonder’s corporate communications. This role supports and strengthens the company’s reputation, culture, and business priorities as a leading cross-platform global games company.
The Director leads the development and execution of integrated internal and external communications programmes. Working under the direction of the SVP, Global Marketing & Communications, this individual partners with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver clear, consistent, and compelling messaging for key audiences.
- Support and build a high-performance, winning corporate culture through communications strategies and executions that support Light & Wonder’s Purpose, People, and Products.
- Lead a small, distributed team across time zones, providing coaching and development, allocating capacity across a broad remit, and building the team’s AI capability.
- Partner with the SVP and senior leaders to develop and execute integrated global corporate communications strategies, including key performance metrics and well-coordinated programs that reinforce the company’s business objectives.
- Partner with Marketing and relevant business stakeholders to develop and execute social media communications as a key corporate communications pillar, ensuring alignment of messaging, timing, tone, and channel strategy.
- Build media relations, outreach, and targeting strategies.
- Manage the master communications calendar to coordinate multiple media opportunities and projects, ensure consistency, and report progress to key stakeholders.
- Write, edit, and distribute clear, concise, and engaging communications across internal and external audiences and formats, including email and video.
- Embrace AI and emerging tools to improve the output and quality of a small team, including content drafting and adaptation, media and social monitoring, sentiment and share-of-voice analysis, competitive benchmarking, and workflow automation.
- Track and report Corporate Communications quarterly key performance indicators (KPIs), insights, and recommendations.
- Own the internal communications channel architecture and calendar, quarterly Global Town Halls, and leader enablement.
- Partner closely with Investor Relations to support internal and external strategy and messaging and serve as a resource for media-related activities connected to corporate positioning and the financial markets.
- Coordinate crisis communications activities in partnership with the SVP, Global Marketing & Communications, Legal, executive leadership, and relevant business stakeholders.
- Lead the day-to-day execution of an Executive Visibility Program across media, speaking, social, and internal channels, ensuring consistency of message and alignment with Light & Wonder’s corporate narrative.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field (required).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, internal communications, media relations, or a related field (required).
- Proven track record of delivering impactful internal and external communications (required).
- Significant experience in positively handling high-profile communications issues, demonstrating sound judgment, and persuasive counseling to senior management (required).
- Exceptional writing and editing skills and are comfortable conceiving, writing, and editing messaging in a variety of formats. This includes materials such as speeches, scripts, op-eds, news articles, books, digital content, or other strategic messaging documents (required).
- Experience leading, developing, and motivating communications professionals, as well as building effective partnerships across a complex organization (required).
- Previous experience in games, real-money and/or free-to-play (preferred).
- Marketing and branding experience (preferred).
- Strong record of nurturing positive relationships with senior editors and reporters of domestic and international news organizations and be able to develop and nurture relationships with front-line and senior management (preferred).
- Previous experience in political campaign communications and/or in a public information role (preferred).
- Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI tools in a communications function, with examples of measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, or team output (preferred).
