Game Artist
The Game Artist plays a key role in ensuring visual assets are production-ready, technically optimised, and aligned with artistic direction. Applying their expertise, the Game Artist contributes to all visual aspects of projects and games, including character design, environments, UI elements, and promotional artwork.
The Game Artist must be versatile and capable of creating artwork in a range of visual styles. Artistic sensibilities and an understanding of the target market will be leveraged regularly to refine and adapt artwork to meet project objectives. The successful candidate will ensure intellectual property and copyright guidelines are followed and production deadlines are met.
- Create character designs, poses, expressions, and illustrations in realistic or stylised formats.
- Develop environments, backgrounds, matte paintings, and textures.
- Design UI elements, symbols, logos, menus, and other game assets.
- Produce mock-ups, visual explorations, and concept development.
- Create promotional and presentation artwork.
- Ensure intellectual property and copyright guidelines are followed.
- Meet production deadlines.
- Collaborate with artists, designers, developers, and production teams.
- 3-5 years of experience creating 2D game art with a portfolio demonstrating a range of artistic styles and production-quality work (required)
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Cloud applications (required)
- Ability to create polished game-ready assets from concept through final production (required)
- Strong drawing, sketching, and illustration skills for ideation and concept development (required)
- Solid understanding of anatomy, colour theory, composition, perspective, lighting, and visual storytelling (required)
- Ability to visually communicate concepts and ideas through sketches, mock-ups, and finished artwork (required)
- Hands-on knowledge of asset optimisation techniques for HTML5 and online game delivery (required)
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (required)
- Familiarity with Adobe Firefly and Adobe Photoshop AI-assisted workflows (required)
- Good understanding of game development pipelines and production processes (required)
- Ability to work effectively with artists, designers, developers, and production teams (required)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet production deadlines (required)
- Technical aptitude and awareness of production constraints and implementation requirements (required)
- Capable of quickly learning new software and maintaining current industry knowledge (required)
- Knowledge of common collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office and Slack (required)
- French fluency would be an asset (nice-to-have)
- Familiarity with 3D tools (nice-to-have)
- Professional experience in the casino gaming industry (nice-to-have)
- Experience creating art for mobile, online, or social gaming products (nice-to-have)
- Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal (nice-to-have)
