Associate Architect

Description

The Financial Platforms Architecture team defines the architecture, integration patterns, and technology strategy across the company’s Finance Technology landscape. The team works closely with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Risk, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver a modern, scalable, and well-controlled set of finance platforms that support accurate financial reporting, reconciliation, treasury operations, and regulatory requirements.

The Associate Architect – Financial Platforms is a hands-on solution architecture role intended for experienced solution architects or highly seasoned senior engineers with strong enterprise system design experience. This role contributes directly to the design and evolution of Finance platforms, including ERP, reconciliation, treasury, reporting, and integration layers. It operates under the guidance of a Senior Architect and Dev leadership but is expected to work independently on defined problem spaces and initiatives. The role focuses on financial platforms and the post-transaction financial lifecycle, rather than merchant-facing or real-time payment authorization platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate Finance and business requirements and translate them into coherent, end-to-end solution designs under architectural governance.
  • Design solutions spanning Finance platforms such as ERP, reconciliation, treasury, reporting, and analytics systems.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions across system boundaries, including data flows, integrations, and platform responsibilities.
  • Produce clear architecture and design artefacts for new initiatives and enhancements aligned to Finance Technology standards.
  • Act as a trusted technical point of contact for Finance Technology solution design topics.
  • Articulate complex, data-driven solutions to Finance, Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, and Technology stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions support financial controls, auditability, and operational resilience.
  • Support platform rationalisation and transformation initiatives, including consolidation of systems and reduction of technical debt.
  • Apply and promote best practices across finance system design, integration patterns, data consistency, and architectural governance.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in solution or platform architecture, or equivalent senior-level experience designing complex enterprise systems (required).
  • Strong understanding of Finance Technology domains such as accounting, ledger management, reconciliation, treasury, and reporting (required).
  • Experience designing and integrating enterprise platforms such as ERP, EPM/consolidation, reconciliation, and treasury systems (required).
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise integration and middleware platforms and system-to-system integrations (required).
  • Strong understanding of financial data flows, lineage, and system-of-record concepts (required).
  • Ability to design solutions that support data integrity, auditability, and regulatory compliance (required).
  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior Finance and Technology stakeholders (required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical designs in business terms (required).
  • Experience supporting Finance Transformation or ERP modernisation initiatives (nice-to-have).
  • Exposure to regulatory, safeguarding, or audit requirements within financial services (nice-to-have).
  • Experience designing solutions that support month-end close, reconciliation, or financial reporting processes (nice-to-have).
  • Familiarity with enterprise reporting, analytics, or self-service BI patterns (nice-to-have).
  • Previous experience operating within a formal architecture practice or governance framework (nice-to-have).
Benefits
