Game Mathematician
PIN-UP is looking for a Game Mathematician. This role involves designing and developing mathematical models for Slots, Crash, and Instant/Mini Games.
The successful candidate will define and calculate key mathematical parameters, build probability models, and create simulations to validate game math. Balancing game mechanics to achieve target RTP and volatility profiles while maintaining an engaging player experience is crucial. The role also requires preparing clear Math Specifications for developers and validating implemented game math.
- Design and develop mathematical models for Slots, Crash, and Instant/Mini Games.
- Define and calculate RTP, volatility, hit frequency, payout distribution, maximum exposure, and other key mathematical parameters.
- Build probability models, paytables, multiplier structures, bonus mechanics, and game-specific reward systems.
- Create simulations and analytical tools to validate game math and evaluate player outcome distributions across large sample sizes.
- Balance game mechanics to achieve target RTP and volatility profiles while maintaining engaging player experience.
- Prepare clear Math Specifications and provide developers with all required formulas, probability tables, configurations, and implementation rules.
- Validate implemented game math and investigate discrepancies between theoretical models, simulations, and production behavior.
- Collaborate with Game Producers, Developers, QA, and Compliance teams throughout development, certification, and release.
- Strong knowledge of probability theory, statistics, combinatorics, and mathematical modeling. (required)
- Professional experience designing mathematics for real-money casino games, preferably including Slots and at least one of Crash or Instant Games. (required)
- Strong understanding of RTP, volatility, hit frequency, payout distributions, house edge, maximum win, and risk/exposure management. (required)
- Experience creating and running large-scale game simulations and interpreting simulation results. (required)
- Ability to translate mathematical models into clear technical specifications that can be implemented and verified by development teams. (required)
- Proficiency in Python, C++, JavaScript, Excel, or similar tools used for mathematical modeling and simulation. (required)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to identify mathematical, balancing, and implementation issues. (required)
- Good communication skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional product, development, QA, and compliance teams. (required)
- Experience with Slots, Crash, and Instant/Mini Games. (preferred)
- Experience with game certification and regulatory requirements. (preferred)
- Knowledge of player behavior, game balancing, and risk/exposure management. (preferred)
