Data Engineer

Description

Playtech's IMS unit is looking for a Data Engineer who has excellent communication and attention to detail.

The role operates at the intersection of data engineering and compliance, addressing complex and evolving regulatory requirements across different markets and countries. The IMS team provides enterprise-level access to critical data across Playtech’s ecosystem. The unit is responsible for delivering reliable, scalable access to data across Playtech’s platforms. The team designs and maintains flexible reporting solutions while enabling downstream data consumption by licensees, internal data warehouses, and regulatory systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide development and support in Oracle/Postgres/MariaDB databases.
  • Build and maintain BigQuery tables in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Develop and make changes to Apache Airflow pipelines.
  • Prepare SQL logic for transformations and reporting tables.
  • Validate query results and fix inconsistencies.
  • Perform data quality checks.
  • Write clear descriptions of tables, DAGs, SQL logic, and data flows.
  • Participate in team discussions, demos, and retros.
  • Work closely with reporting developers, analysts, and other engineers.
  • Participate in code reviews and learn best practices.
Requirements
  • Have at least 1+ year of experience with database structures, design, and development (required).
  • Bring experience with ETL tools and understanding of data integration principles (required).
  • Understand database fundamentals, including the general principles of designing database tables and data transformations (required).
  • Are comfortable creating and modifying tables, views, and analytical queries using DDL and DML (required).
  • Can write clean, efficient SQL queries (joins, filters, aggregates) (required).
  • Can write small scripts for data transformations and automation in Python (required).
  • Speak and write English confidently (required).
  • Estonian is an advantage (nice-to-have).
  • Hold, or are currently obtaining, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field related to Data Engineering (required).
