Java Developer
Playtech's POP (Playtech Open Platform) unit is looking for a proactive Java Developer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems rather than simply building CRUD applications. The team develops high-performance distributed backend systems and is modernising its platform by redesigning existing services and building new ones using modern Java & frameworks. Playtech continuously improves architecture, performance, scalability, and maintainability to build faster, more reliable, and easier-to-maintain systems.
- Modernise existing systems while developing new services.
- Solve technical challenges related to performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Write clean, well-tested, and high-quality code.
- Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with teammates to continuously improve engineering practices.
- Learn and adopt new technologies where they provide clear value.
- Solid knowledge of modern Java (Java 21/25 preferred) including multithreading, and concurrency (required)
- Good problem-solving skills and knowledge of algorithms and data structures (required)
- General understanding of distributed systems and backend application design (required)
- General understanding of database concepts and experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (required)
- Commitment to writing high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested software (required)
- Experience with Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, Git, Docker (required)
- Knowledge of performance tuning & debugging of performance issues (nice-to-have)
