Senior Product Manager, Risk
Trustly is seeking a Senior Product Manager for Risk to oversee the strategy and execution of the risk platform that supports the company's payment guarantee. This role involves shaping the product roadmap, collaborating with Data Science and Engineering teams on model integration and system architecture, and making critical decisions regarding approval rates, loss exposure, and guarantee economics.
The position requires a high level of ownership and technical depth. The successful candidate will be expected to analyse decision engine configurations, test model thresholds, and translate complex payment patterns into actionable product requirements. Strategic thinking and a hands-on approach are essential for success in this role.
- Define and execute the product direction for risk infrastructure, including decisioning, model integration, rules management, and real-time controls.
- Collaborate with Data Science to translate model outputs into operational product decisions such as threshold design, feature requirements, and monitoring frameworks.
- Develop a deep working knowledge of system architecture and data flows to identify gaps and unblock engineering teams.
- Manage guarantee economics by making decisions on risk controls to optimise performance across the merchant portfolio.
- Act as a liaison between Risk, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Legal, and Sales departments.
- Own the product backlog, lead sprint planning, and maintain high standards for story definition and acceptance criteria.
- 4–7 years in product management with direct experience in risk, fraud, or financial decisioning (required).
- Understanding of ACH or digital payments mechanics, dispute windows, and settlement timing (required).
- Experience working alongside data scientists to shape models, define thresholds, and build monitoring into product design (required).
- Technical fluency, comfortable in SQL, and capable of engaging in technical design discussions (required).
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to write well, speak precisely, and calibrate for audience (required).
- High judgment under ambiguity, with the ability to make consequential calls with incomplete information and articulate reasoning (required).
