Automation QA Engineer
FlintN is looking for an Automation QA Engineer to join the team, which is building and scaling an all-in-one payment platform for online businesses. The role focuses on product development, testing, and integrations aimed at building a global payment platform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated end-to-end suites and ensuring the health of the testing infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to work on an early-stage payment product with significant technical freedom and the ability to influence the product's development vector.
- Developing and maintaining the automated e2e suite (Playwright + TypeScript) covering both UI and API layers of the payments platform.
- Automating critical payment scenarios: checkout and 3DS challenge flows, authorization, capture, void, refunds, chargebacks.
- Building API test suites for internal services and third-party provider integrations.
- Automating routing, cascading and retry scenarios, and subscription/recurring billing flows.
- Validating data integrity across storages (Postgres, ClickHouse, OpenSearch) as part of automated checks.
- Owning suite health: triaging failures, distinguishing real defects from flakiness, and fixing the root cause.
- 2+ years of experience in test automation, preferably within fintech, payments or e-commerce (required).
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills - able to write and maintain a test framework, not just test scripts (required).
- Hands-on experience with a modern e2e framework (Playwright preferred; Cypress/Selenium/WebdriverIO acceptable with willingness to move to Playwright) (required).
- Solid API test automation experience - REST, request/response structures, status codes, authentication (OAuth2/OIDC, API keys), contract and negative testing (required).
- Good architectural habits in test code: Page Object / fixtures, reusable helpers, environment-driven configuration, test data management and cleanup, avoidance of inter-test coupling (required).
- Able to write stable, deterministic tests against async, event-driven systems - explicit waits/polling instead of sleeps, retry-tolerant assertions, diagnosing and eliminating flakiness (required).
- Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals: test design techniques, coverage analysis, bug lifecycle, when automation is (and isn't) worth it (required).
- Good SQL skills - writing queries against Postgres to validate transaction states and payment data as part of automated checks (required).
- Practical CI/CD experience - running suites in a pipeline (GitLab CI preferred), reading job logs, publishing JUnit/HTML reports, handling env-specific runs (required).
- Familiar with payment gateway flows: authorization, capture, refunds, chargebacks, 3DS authentication (required).
- Knowledge of web testing basics: browsers, dev console, network tab, debugging front-end/back-end boundary issues (required).
- Kafka/async message validation (nice-to-have).
- ClickHouse or OpenSearch (nice-to-have).
- Docker/Kubernetes basics (nice-to-have).
- Performance testing (k6/JMeter) (nice-to-have).
- Grafana and log-based investigation (nice-to-have).
- Understanding of PCI-DSS requirements (nice-to-have).
- A chance to work on an early-stage payment product.
- Opportunity to make architectural decisions, work with AI and high-level engineering, enjoy technical freedom, and directly influence the product’s development vector.
- Startup drive backed by the stability and support of a holding company.
- Minimal steps from idea to action.
- Your office is wherever it’s convenient for you: home, our Kyiv office, coworking spaces in Lviv or Warsaw, or anywhere else with a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Flexible working hours. Plan your day for maximum efficiency: start between 8:00 and 11:00 and finish between 17:00 and 20:00, considering team collaboration hours.
- Continuous growth is a must. Courses, conferences, and an internal library - investment in your development.
- Health care and wellbeing: medical insurance, a Mental Health program, and compensation for sessions with a psychologist.
- Time to recharge: 28 paid days off per year, sick leave, and all public holidays fully covered.
- Gifts for special occasions.
- Social Impact. The Ukrainian Victory Support program and other charitable initiatives supporting Ukraine.
- Active corporate life: quarterly team buildings, workshops, and other holding-level events.
