Multi-Media Journalist (Ireland)
Spotlight Sports Group is looking for an ambitious, creative journalist with a passion for telling Irish racing's stories across video, social and digital formats. The role combines written racing journalism – news reporting, race previews and reports, feature writing – with a strong emphasis on video and social-first content for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and X.
The position is suited to someone at the start of their career or with limited professional experience who has a genuine feel for visual storytelling and an enthusiasm for horseracing. The successful candidate will understand how audiences consume content on digital and social platforms and will be excited about building new formats alongside the core editorial work of a busy racing desk.
- Create and star in video content for social platforms and YouTube, including short-form clips, social-native formats and contributions to Racing Post shows, both on camera and behind it.
- Attend race meetings and other events to produce video and written content on the ground.
- Write news, features, race previews and reports.
- Develop and pitch ideas for new video and social-first formats that grow the audience on digital platforms.
- Monitor racing and betting news daily and identify stories with visual or social potential.
- Work closely with the Ireland editor and the wider editorial team, in particular the Video and Audience teams, to ensure content reaches the right audiences in the right formats.
- Good knowledge of horseracing and betting (required).
- Experience of creating video or social-first content – a personal portfolio, active social channels or professional work all count (required).
- Strong written communication and an instinct for storytelling across formats (required).
- Comfort appearing on camera and ability to communicate with confidence and flair (required).
- Understanding of social platforms – what performs, why, and how to create for them (required).
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure (required).
- Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays across a seven-day rota (required).
- Experience in a newsroom or digital publishing environment (nice-to-have).
- Video editing skills (nice-to-have).
- A personal track record of building an audience on social platforms (nice-to-have).
- A full, clean driving licence (nice-to-have).
- Private medical insurance.
- Excellent parental leave.
- Working globally policy.
- Mental health support and assistance programs.
- Social gatherings.
- Pension scheme and various other benefit schemes.
- Birthdays off work.
- 25 days of holiday per year.
- Life assurance.
- Star card and Step Further Awards employee recognition program.
- Season Ticket Loan and Cycle to Work Scheme (for hybrid model).
- Complimentary access to the Racing Post Members Club with an Ultimate Membership.
- Two days per year for volunteering with a charity partner.
