Project Portfolio Manager (Finance)
The Project Portfolio Manager (Finance) will be part of the Finance Transformation team, which has overall responsibility for defining and overseeing the Finance Transformation Roadmap. The role will be responsible for a collection of projects for the Finance vertical, aligning them with strategic goals by prioritizing initiatives, optimizing resource allocation across projects, monitoring performance, and managing risks to ensure the portfolio delivers maximum value and meets business and Departmental objectives.
The role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding project selection, prioritization, and execution. The role will also require at times the successful candidate to play a hands-on role in assuming the role of Project Manager, Business Analyst, Change Manager, and/or Stakeholder Engagement Manager to ensure the right outcomes are achieved for the Finance internal customers and vertical.
The team aims to strike the right balance between being strategic and frugal with Super resources.
- Evaluate and select projects that align with the organisations and departments strategic vision and priorities.
- Analyze project proposals to assess their potential impact and alignment with business and departmental goals.
- Regularly communicate portfolio status and performance to key stakeholders, including senior management.
- Optimize resource allocation across projects within the portfolio to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify resource constraints and proactively address potential bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) of each project within the portfolio.
- Regularly assess project progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Generate reports to provide visibility into portfolio health and potential risks.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks across the project portfolio.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential issues and minimize impact.
- Monitor risk levels and escalate critical issues as needed.
- Utilize established criteria to prioritize projects based on business value, urgency, and resource availability.
- Facilitate decision-making processes to select projects for execution and potentially de-prioritize or cancel others.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across different departments.
- Communicate effectively to ensure alignment on portfolio goals and expectations.
- Address concerns and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee Business process reengineering and digital transformation projects, ensuring they stay on track with timelines, budget, and scope.
- Analyze existing business processes, identify pain points, and define requirements for needful Transformation.
- Facilitate organizational change by communicating the transformation vision, training employees, and managing resistance.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks (on an as needs basis)
- Degree level education, with a Big 4 background and 3-4 years PQE (required)
- Hands on experience of having been in a Finance Operational role and or leading Finance Projects. Ideally experiences should include Record to Report processes such as Month end Financial close, FP&A, Statutory Reporting, Direct and Indirect Taxation etc. (required)
- Proven experience in project management methodologies and best practices (required)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate project performance and identify areas for improvement (required)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders (required)
- Expertise in portfolio management tools and software (required)
- Understanding of financial analysis and budgeting principles to assess project viability (required)
- Leadership abilities to guide project teams and manage complex portfolio initiatives (required)
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural and multi-location environment with an ability to work independently and priorities workload as part of a geographically dispersed team (required)

- Relevant sector experience would serve an advantage, such as Gaming background, digital, retail or e-Commerce (preferred)
- Has listed experience or within a high-growth business a benefit but not essential (preferred)
