VP, Design
As VP of Design, the successful candidate will own the design vision and quality bar for Trustly's global product surfaces. This role involves building and leading a team of product designers, protecting the integrity of the consumer experience during periods of rapid growth, and acting as a key voice in shaping Trustly's product strategy and user experience.
The position is designed for a leader who prioritises craft, possesses the organisational savvy to protect it, and operates effectively at the intersection of design, product, and engineering. The role requires fluency in AI-native building methods, including prototyping in code and utilising AI tools to transition ideas from concept to functional user experience.
- Set and defend the design vision, design language, and quality standard for Trustly's consumer and merchant-facing products.
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of product designers across multiple product surfaces.
- Establish design culture, processes, and ways of working that scale with the organisation.
- Own Trustly's design system to ensure consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across teams and platforms.
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to integrate design deeply into every stage of the product development cycle.
- Drive user research and usability testing practices to ground design decisions in real user needs and behaviours.
- Act as a strategic design voice in executive conversations to advocate for design investment and articulate the business value of exceptional experience.
- 12+ years of product design experience (required)
- 4+ years leading design teams at a fast-growing technology company (required)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design leadership across consumer and/or B2B products (required)
- Deep expertise in design systems, interaction design, and visual design (required)
- Proven ability to build and grow design teams and culture in a fast-paced environment (required)
- Payments, fintech, or enterprise SaaS design experience (nice-to-have)
- Effective cross-functional partner and communicator (required)
