Product Owner

Description

EveryMatrix is looking for a Product Owner to take ownership of the Players domain within the GamMatrix platform. This role focuses on the systems that govern how a player is registered, authenticated, consented, classified, and protected across every operator on the platform. This is a backend platform product role that involves managing functionality that is regulatory-critical and consumed by numerous operators and internal products.

The Product Owner will work within an established delivery structure featuring a quarterly commitment cycle and two-week sprints. They will collaborate closely with a Tech Lead, developers, and quality assurance teams, while managing stakeholders including Product Management, PMO, Integration Management, and Account Management. The role requires precise requirements gathering, thorough consideration of edge cases, and a deep understanding of compliance implications prior to development.

Responsibilities
  • Own the vision, backlog, and prioritisation for the Players domain and be accountable for the business value delivered by the team.
  • Translate business and regulatory requests into structured requirements including BRDs, user flows, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
  • Run continuous discovery and business analysis with operators, Account Management, Compliance, and dependent product teams.
  • Understand and document ownership boundaries and integration dependencies between the Players domain and Wallets, KYC/AML, payments, reporting, and game management.
  • Review and size incoming work within the 10-business-day SLA and coordinate with technical stakeholders.
  • Manage quarterly planning by bringing forward viable, unblocked, and sized items and confirming final commitments.
  • Convert committed items into configured, traceable local EPICs and maintain backlogs and dashboards.
  • Provide progress updates at the midpoint, flag risks and dependencies, and propose scope adjustments.
  • Represent the team company-wide by presenting delivered work and its commercial impact.
  • Bring a prioritised, Definition-of-Ready-compliant list of work into Sprint Planning.
  • Prepare and lead refinement sessions and maintain a rolling buffer of refined work.
  • Support release readiness, validation, post-release verification, and participate in production investigations.
  • Handle direct stakeholder communication and manage in-quarter scope changes to keep capacity balanced.
Requirements
  • 3+ years as a Product Owner, Product Manager or senior Business Analyst on backend, API-driven or platform products (required).
  • Demonstrable experience writing requirements for systems where correctness, auditability and edge-case handling matter, such as authentication, identity, payments, or compliance (required).
  • Fluency with Agile delivery in practice, including backlog management, Definition of Ready, refinement, estimation, and sprint/release mechanics (required).
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira and Confluence, including structuring EPICs, versions, labels and dashboards (required).
  • Ability to read and reason about API documentation and system integration flows, and to hold a credible technical conversation with a Tech Lead (required).
  • Clear, structured written English (required).
  • Comfort operating with multiple stakeholders and conflicting priorities, and the judgment to say no with a reason (required).
  • iGaming experience, particularly in player account management (PAM), responsible gaming, KYC/AML or regulatory reporting (preferred).
  • Familiarity with regulated-market requirements across multiple jurisdictions (preferred).
  • Exposure to authentication standards (OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, SSO) and consent management (preferred).
  • Experience supporting release processes and production incident handling (preferred).
Benefits
  • Start with 22 days of annual leave, with 2 additional days added each year, up to 32 days by your fifth year.
  • Benefit from two Free Fridays each year, limited to one per quarter.
  • 3 sick leave days per year, no doctor's note required.
  • Daily catered lunch or monthly lunch allowance.
  • Private Medical Subscription.
  • Access online learning platforms like Udemy for Business and LinkedIn Learning, and a budget for external training.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program through TELUS Health.
  • Office perks include parking, on-site massages, and frequent team-building activities.
  • Access to office facilities including a pool and gym.
