Software Engineer (Data Delivery Team)
Playtech's IMS Data Delivery Team is looking for a skilled Software Engineer with strong technical expertise and problem-solving abilities. The role involves designing, building, testing, debugging, and operating reliable features in Java, Vue, and other stacks as required by the product. The engineer will work on information systems and integrations, including APIs, messaging, and data consistency, with clear ownership of failure modes and production behaviour.
The position encourages the use of approved AI-assisted development to enhance speed, with a focus on defining, reviewing, and validating merged code to the same standard as hand-written code. Contributions to automated testing, code review, and documentation are expected to ensure longevity. The engineer will also extend and improve existing codebases and collaborate within an agile delivery framework with leads, product managers, and peers, taking ownership of their areas and helping to improve team practices safely.
- Design, build, test, debug, and operate reliable features in Java, Vue, and other stacks when the product requires it.
- Work on information systems and integrations - APIs, messaging, data consistency - with clear ownership of failure modes and production behaviour.
- Use approved AI-assisted development to move faster; define, review, and validate what you merge (same bar as hand-written code).
- Contribute to automated testing, code review, and documentation that outlive a single chat session.
- Extend and improve existing codebases, not only greenfield demos.
- Collaborate in agile delivery with your lead, product, and peers; take ownership of your areas; help improve team practices safely.
- Have professional experience building backend or full-stack software in a commercial or product team (required).
- Show solid software fundamentals that you can explain, including runtime behaviour, relational databases and SQL, debugging with evidence, applied data structures, and complexity awareness (required).
- Demonstrate information systems thinking, including source of truth, concurrent updates, integration partial failure, and idempotency where relevant (required).
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, and contribute meaningfully to code reviews (required).
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn on the job, including Spring/Vue conventions, Kafka and internal platforms, new frameworks, and approved AI tooling and workflows (required).
- Take ownership of assigned areas, collaborate effectively as part of a team, and communicate clearly in English (required).
- Respect data classification and security requirements, and understand what information must not be shared with external AI tools (required).
- Production experience with Java (Spring) and/or Vue (nice-to-have).
- Kafka or similar asynchronous integration experience (nice-to-have).
- Experience modernising or extending large, long-lived codebases (nice-to-have).
- Full-stack delivery across API and UI (nice-to-have).
- Concrete stories of AI-assisted work where you verified outcomes (tests, review, operational safety) (nice-to-have).
- Professional and fun team environment, where proper training and knowledge sharing are offered.
- Opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Variety – no day is the same.
- Support for an active lifestyle and a well-being package.
- Work-life balance and flexibility.
- Fun and engaging company events.
