Payroll Manager

Description

As Payroll Manager at Sportsbet AU, the successful candidate will lead the delivery of payroll services across the business, ensuring that employees are paid accurately, on time, and in accordance with all legislative and organisational requirements. Based within the Finance, Analytics, Strategy and Transformation (FAST) department, this role involves overseeing day-to-day payroll operations and leading a small team.

The Payroll Manager will drive compliance and continuous improvement initiatives while helping to optimise payroll systems and processes within a fast-paced, growing environment. The role requires a people-focused leader who can navigate complex payroll legislation while delivering outstanding service to stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of payroll services, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll outcomes.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing payroll team while overseeing workload allocation and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, taxation, superannuation, and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain strong payroll controls, support audit activities, and uphold data integrity and reporting accuracy.
  • Drive payroll system enhancements, testing, legislative updates, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience leading payroll operations and managing payroll teams in a medium to large Australian organisation (required).
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, and Fair Work requirements (required).
  • Experience interpreting Industrial Awards and Enterprise Agreements, including the Clerks Award (Private Sector) (required).
  • Demonstrated expertise managing end-to-end payroll processes, payroll systems, reporting, and payroll compliance (required).
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits, maintaining payroll controls, and driving process improvements (required).
